Microsoft releases @live.com addresses

Nov 7th 2007

WinVista-Button_rgb If you use Microsoft’s new Live suite of applications, you’ve probably heard about the change of name from hotmail to live hotmail (which was originally dropping the hotmail name). Well, now you’re able to get your own @live.com email address!

According to ‘The Windows Blog’, an unofficial source of Windows news, Microsoft “officially opened the much anticipated and well overdue registration for the new @live.com email addresses”. This was together with a release of numerous products in their live suite, including a full stable release of Windows Live Messenger 8.5, sporting a new sleek appearance which adds to the new Vista theme.

However, whilst users are reporting that they are able to grab themselves a new email address, some users are also having issues. “Looks like Live is down for now… the next page said the service is currently down to fix some issues.” said GEIST ftom Neowin News.

I am also unable to get an @live.com address, with the options only including @hotmail.com. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in this regard.
